Riverside is Denver's Pioneer Cemetery. It was incorporated on April 1, 1876. It is just north
of Downtown Denver along the South Platte River. The grounds are not maintained and the
large statuary I've ever
seen.
- Baker 102,107 & 110 - The Baker monument is topped by a huge white horse. It is
unusual because it has no rider, trappings or saddle. It is the only one of its kind in any
U.S. Cemetery
- Bell Children 103 - The graves of these four small children lie near the road. The
children died from 1879 to 1887. Imagine the despair of the children's parents, Lizzie
and Harley Bell.
- Lester Drake, Sr. 104 - This hand-carved sandstone monument is suppose to be an
exact replica of his mining cabin in Black Hawk.
- Cradle 108 - I am still researching the Hand-Carved Stone Cradle. I find this cradle quite
interesting and am anxious to learn more about it.
There is so much history depicted in the graveyard. I will be adding more photos and stories
as I explore this Denver landmark.
