The Lotus
I bought my first Lotus in 1997 and I have been able to grow new plants each season
from this original Lotus
.  Each year in mid April I split the tubers and start new plants.
Some I grow for my own use while others are traded for water plants that I want to add to
my ponds.

The Lotus will produce buds most years. These buds open around the end of July in
Denver. The Lotus Blossom only blooms for 3 days. The first day bloom is a dark pink
color. On the second day, the blossom is a combination of pink and yellow with hints of
white. By the third day, the blossoms are mostly pale yellow and by late on the third day
the petals begin to fall off. The Pod is all that remains after the third day. These pods are
popular accent items in dry flower arrangements.

Some of the Lotus Blossoms displayed on this page are from my own pond while others
are from a large Lotus Bog at Hudson Gardens in Littleton, Colorado.

These photos look terrific mounted on MDF board by "Picture This"
or on Canvas.
